At St. Croix Trailers, the process for pickup, shipping, and registration is made as simple as possible. The company provides the necessary documentation and support to get your trailer on the road, whether you pick it up at the shop in Stillwater, Minnesota, or have it delivered across the country.
Pickup Location
Customers are welcome to pick up completed trailers directly from the headquarters:

Pickup must be scheduled in advance to allow for final inspection, walkthrough, paperwork, and any remaining delivery preparation.
Shipping & Delivery Options
Delivery and shipping options are offered for custom trailers throughout the United States.
- Customer Pickup: Customers may pick up their completed trailer directly from the Stillwater, Minnesota facility.
- Direct-to-Customer Delivery: Delivery to your location may be available for an additional fee.
- On-Road Trailer Transport: For towable trailers, typical transport is estimated at approximately $3.00 per loaded mile. This cost depends on trailer size, route, fuel pricing, carrier availability, and final destination.
- Flatbed Transport: Flatbed transport may be available when required or preferred, estimated at approximately $3.25 per loaded mile. This cost depends on trailer size, route, permits, and carrier availability.
- Nationwide Shipping: St. Croix Trailers can help coordinate delivery throughout the continental United States and may assist with shipping options to Alaska, Hawaii, or international destinations when available.
Delivery Timing
Delivery timing depends on the trailer type, build schedule, custom options, engineering requirements, equipment lead times, and transportation availability. Your estimated completion and delivery timeline will be provided during the quoting and sales agreement process.
What to Expect at Pickup or Delivery
Before a trailer leaves the facility, a final review is completed, including general fit and finish, safety-related items, major installed systems, and customer-selected options.
Depending on the trailer configuration, pickup or delivery may include:
- Final trailer walkthrough, basic operation overview, and review of major installed components
- Review of towing, safety, and maintenance items
- Bill of sale
- Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin / Certificate of Origin when applicable
- DMV-related paperwork when applicable
- Warranty and policy documents
- Any available manuals or manufacturer documentation for included components
DMV Registration Documents
St. Croix Trailers provides the standard paperwork needed to help customers register their trailer with their local DMV or licensing office.
Documents provided may include:
- Bill of Sale
- Certificate of Origin / Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin
- VIN information
- Trailer specifications when applicable
- Other supporting documentation required for registration
Registration requirements vary by state, county, trailer type, weight, and intended use.
DMV & State Inspection Responsibility
The customer is responsible for:
- Taking the trailer and paperwork to their local DMV or licensing office
- Paying applicable taxes, title fees, registration fees, and plate fees
- Completing any state-required inspections
- Confirming commercial food, vending, mobile kitchen, business, or local health department approvals when applicable
- Verifying state-specific towing, insurance, and operating requirements
For commercial builds, DMV registration is separate from other necessary approvals (e.g., health department, fire marshal).
Commercial Food Trailer & Specialty Trailer Notes
For custom commercial builds, registration is only one part of the process. Depending on the use case, you may also need approval from the following authorities having jurisdiction:
- Local or state health department
- Fire marshal
- Building or mechanical inspector
- Electrical inspector
- Propane or gas inspector
- Business licensing office
- Event permitting office
- Insurance provider
Warranty Information
Warranty coverage is provided as outlined in the final sales agreement and warranty policy for each specific trailer build. Warranty terms may vary depending on the trailer type, components, appliances, customer-supplied equipment, manufacturer-supplied equipment, and the final scope of work. Manufacturer warranties may apply separately to components like axles, tires, generators, HVAC units, and cooking equipment.
Returns & Refunds
Because St. Croix Trailers builds custom trailers, deposit, refund, cancellation, and return terms are detailed in the sales agreement provided before production begins. Custom trailer builds, engineering/design work, ordered materials, special-order equipment, and customer-approved changes may be non-refundable depending on the stage of the project.

Shipping and delivery pricing is an estimate only until confirmed with the carrier or transport provider. Final shipping cost may vary based on:
- Trailer size and weight, pickup and delivery location
- Fuel pricing, road conditions, route restrictions, permits, and insurance
- Carrier availability
- Flatbed vs. on-road transport, and special handling requirements
Any quoted shipping cost is separate from the trailer build price unless specifically included in the final signed agreement.
